This collection documents the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs. The bulk of the records come from the Duke Medical Alumni Association, which includes graduates of the Duke School of Medicine, former Duke house staff, current medical students, current house staff, and Duke University Medical Center faculty. The collection includes correspondence; programs; class letters; photographs; alumni directories; fundraising materials; lists; documentation of awards, galas, and anniversary celebrations; digital file; and a small amount of artwork. The materials date from 1932 to 2023.

Biographical / historical:

The Duke University Office of Development and Alumni Affairs supports the Duke Medical Alumni Association. The office is composed of staff in Central Development, Duke Children's Hospital, Duke Eye Center, Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, Duke Heart Center, the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, Women's Health, and the Department of Medicine. Together these groups raise philanthropic funds through major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, and foundation relations. They also organize special events and produce communications materials to steward, educate, and cultivate friends of Duke University Medical Center. Membership of the Duke Medical Alumni Association includes graduates of the Duke School of Medicine, former Duke house staff, current medical students, current house staff, and Duke University Medical Center faculty. The Medical Alumni Association sponsors community building and educational events, publications, and special programs to enhance the experiences of Duke medical students and house staff.
