Effective Friday, March 13 at 5pm, Duke University Medical Center Archives is closed to the public until further notice due to COVID-19.
Staff are working remotely and are available for consultation via our online request form or via email (firstname.lastname@example.org). While we cannot access our physical collections, we are happy to answer general questions and assist you in locating digital materials for your research if possible.
We also recommend checking out this blog post for some digital research options: https://archives.mc.duke.edu/blog/digital-research-resources
Patrons wishing to publish or broadcast images in any form (hard copy, electronic, presentation, public display, television/film/video) should contact us to obtain the appropriate forms to begin the process. Permission to publish must be secured prior to publication. Depending on the nature of the request, it may be subject to a commercial use fee of $75.00 per image. When contacting the Archives about a publication request, include the title of your work, the format in which it will appear, the name of the publisher (if applicable), and the anticipated publication date. The turnaround time for obtaining permission is usually two weeks.
Published work created using Duke University Medical Center Archives materials should include a proper acknowledgement. The suggested citation format for use in a bibliography is “Duke University Medical Center Archives,” followed by the name of the collection. For example: “Duke University Medical Center Archives, Wilburt C. Davison Papers.”
