The Nick Carter Travel Club Records contains materials pertaining to the travels and activities of the society from its formation until 2003. Types of materials include correspondence, clippings, programs, reports, loose photographic materials, photo albums, and scrapbooks. While the collection includes some administrative records, most of which concern Carter’s retirement and the formation of F. Bayard Carter endowment, the bulk of the collection consists of photographic material documenting the group’s travels and activities. These materials include scrapbooks, photo albums, and loose photographs. The scrapbooks and photographic materials candidly document the society’s trips, events, banquets, and even funerals. This collection is a great resources for researchers interested in the history of Duke’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, or simply have a love for vintage travel photos.
