The Medical Center Archives Program at Duke University
To ensure preservation of historically valuable records and develop rich holdings in Medical Center history, the Duke University Medical Center Archives offers assistance on retention of permanent records, reference use of inactive records, and timely destruction of outdated records.
Records Retention and Disposition Guidelines
These guidelines have been prepared by the Medical Center Archives Staff. They are to be used as a guide to assist Administrative Offices, Departments, Centers, and Programs in determining the proper method and time of records disposition.
These are general guidelines and do not identify every record created or collected in every office. If you have a question about archiving or disposing of a particular series of records, contact our office at 383-2653.
