Abstract: Duke Health Sector Conferences (formerly known as The Private Sector Conferences) are a series of healthcare-related conferences hosted by Duke University Medical Center and Health System. Types of materials include proceedings, photographs, correspondence, notes, agendas, participant lists, and audio recordings. Major subjects include hospital planning and construction, health insurance, health economics Duke Hospital, and the Duke University Medical Center. Materials range in date from 1978 to 2004. Historical NoteSince the first conference in 1977, the annual Private Sector Conferences at Duke University have brought together disparate groups for dialogue around common interests. Conferences were held at various venues around the Duke University Medical Center. Conference proceedings were authored by Duncan Yaggy or William G. Anlyan until around 1994, when Vicki Saito and Ralph Snyderman became primary editors of the proceedings. Also in 1994, the conference name was changed to Duke Private Sector Conferences. In 2002, the name changed again to Duke Health Sector Conferences. Collection OverviewContains notebooks and other materials pertaining to the conferences. Notebooks are present for most years from 1994 to 2004. Items for each conference event many include papers, writings, agendas, participant lists, observer lists, publications, and published proceedings. Prior to 1994, papers and conference notebook materials were compiled less formally. Collection also contains thirty-eight 10-inch audio tape recordings of the third through eighth conferences (1978-1983). There are no records from conferences held between 1990 and 1993.
